Weekend Earworm: 05/04/2013

If I'd ever written anything connected to this universe, and it's neo-celto-shamanic-elementalist theology, which was fit to come to a screen of any size, I'd always felt that the Afro Celt Sound System would've been a perfect artistic source for the soundtrack with it's techno-celto-african fusion.

Even though the universe of Caleb Lonnergan has been set to a back burner of my imagination, the Afro Celt Sound System is still an important part of my life. This is one of my all-time favorite songs:

In addition to being one my favorites, it's always hit home to me as a good description of people living with loved ones who suffer clinical depression, which inserts itself into relationships and familial units like some semi-related, obnoxious roommate who hangs there in every crucial, intimate moment and never understands that maybe it'd be nice to have a bit of life away from each other. It's Dupree at a thousand-fold.

Everyday, you crawl into the night
A fallen angel, with your wings set alight
When you hit the ground
Everything turns to blue
I can't get through the smoke
That's surrounding you

Cause when you're falling
I can't tell which way is down
And when you're screaming
Somehow I don't hear a sound
And when you're seeing things
Then your feet don't touch the ground
Cause when you're falling
I can't tell which way is down

I can see through the clouds
I can walk right through the walls
Hang me off the ceiling
But I can't take the fall
Should have crossed the river
But I may get swept away
Out there on the water
You can still see me wave

Cause when you're falling
I can't tell which way is down
When you're falling
I can't tell which way is down
I keep seeing all those things
My feet don't touch the ground

Cause when you're falling
I can't tell which way is down
And when you're screaming
Somehow I don't hear a sound
And when you're seeing things
Then your feet don't touch the ground
Don't touch the ground
Cause when you're falling
I can't tell which way is down
And when your screaming
Somehow I don't hear a sound
I don't hear a sound
I can't hear a sound, I can't hear a sound
No sound

Cause when you're falling
I can't tell which way is down
And when you're screaming
Somehow I don't hear a sound

Cause when you're falling
I can't tell which way is down
And when you're screaming
Somehow I don't hear a sound
Dunno, I think it's rather apropos. Should have crossed the river when I may get swept away? Out there on the water you can still see me wave...
