Obviously, Gun Control Works (With an Afterthought)...

...if you're the criminal.

A Hat-tip to Ed Drscoll on where Great Britain used to be. Per the Daily Mail Online:
The Government's latest crime figures were condemned as "truly terrible" by the Tories today as it emerged that gun crime in England and Wales soared by 35% last year.

Criminals used handguns in 46% more offences, Home Office statistics revealed.

Firearms were used in 9,974 recorded crimes in the 12 months to last April, up from 7,362.

It was the fourth consecutive year to see a rise and there were more than 2,200 more gun crimes last year than the previous peak in 1993.
Isn't Great Britain supposed to be a model to the world for proper gun control?

Afterthoughts:
I'd already had this post scheduled before the events of this morning occurred and I almost deleted it entirely. Every time something like this happens, I go through a minor period of self-doubt—especially, when it involves children...

Even if every gun were banned today, things like this would still occur, if in different form, but with the same level of horror. We have far more things to look at than merely guns to try and prevent such atrocities and I'll probably post more on that after the wounds are a little less raw.

For now, those millions of us that are law-abiding shooters need to pray and grieve for the lost innocents and strengthen our resolve to face the inevitable backlash and onslaught that is sure to come with conviction and solidarity.
