Gee, I can't wait to hear one family member up here in AK compare Belichick to Jerry Sandusky again (boy you certainly cheered just as hard as I did when you watched them win that 1st Super Bowl).

I've hear this crap going all the way back to the Tuck Rule and people in my face how the Pats had no business even being in that Super Bowl. People in my face about something that, frankly was a bright moment that happened just at the right time and pulled me out of the darkest period in my life. If it hasn't been that, it's always been some other excuse as to how the Pats suck and aren't a real championship team. Thanks. Eric Mangini, for being such a dick. Where are you now in the NFL?

I've said it before that I have no issue with Adam wanting to marry Steve. If you do not hurt others (and, yes, things like NAMBLA do promote the hurting of others), your proclivities are your own business and the libertarian in me is a firm believer that government has no business in most aspects of our lives otherwise.

Just as I can't stand the government trying to control all aspects of my life (my betters do it for my own good, of course), I can't stand proselytizers of any stripe.

Yeah, maybe this has been an ongoing joke and/or rallying cry for decades but it still absolutely disgusts me no less each time it rears it's f#<k!ng ugly head:

To members the gay community pushing things like this, I cry bullshit. This week's (and others) court decisions don't give you the right to flaunt it in the faces of the reset of us like some drag queen's scarf on Commercial Street in P-Town. You do that, you've now made it my business and I say, F#<k You. Maybe the other side's more right than I used to think and, way to go, making me not want to see your side of things.

To either side, spraying me down with cold water doesn't make me want to hold your respective hose.

California Nursing Home Permits 87-Year-Old Woman To Die Rather Than Render Simple CPR,Because It's Their "Policy"

California retirement home is backing one of its nurses after she refused desperate pleas from a 911 operator to perform CPR on an elderly woman who later died, saying the nurse was following the facility's policy.

Oh, it's your policy? I'm sorry, I didn't realize it was your policy. Certainly if you have a "policy" you are justified in permitting a woman under your care to die without taking any action to help her at all.

The nursing home defended the inaction, claiming it was a "policy" that nurses should only call 911 and otherwise render no aid themselves.

Seriously, WTF? Are our lives reduced purely to policy?

This would be a different story if the woman had a living will or a DNR providing instructions to take no action. I sure as hell don't want to spend my remaining days as a ventilated vegetable, draining the soul and resources of my loved ones. Seriously, I don't and I've drawn the paperwork and left specific instructions with Tulip to cover such. There's a key difference between following a patient's wishes and negligent homicide.

Apparently, there was no such set of instructions for the victim beyond the policy of the independent living facility:

"These are like apartments for seniors. You're basically living on your own. They may have some services provided by basic nursing staff, but it's not their responsibility to care for the individual," said Dr. Susan Leonard, a geriatrics expert at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Residents of independent living communities can still take care of themselves, but may need help getting to doctor's appointments. In skilled nursing facilities and nursing homes, many residents require around-the-clock care.

Staff members are "required to perform and provide CPR" unless there's a do-not-resuscitate order, said Greg Crist, a senior vice president at the American Health Care Association.

Bayless did not have such an order on file at the facility, said Battalion Chief Anthony Galagaza of the Bakersfield Fire Department, which was the first on the scene. That's when firefighters immediately began CPR, continuing until she reached the hospital.

I am by no means one of those folks who believes there should be stricter laws requiring people to fly flags or, begrudgingly, infringing on the First Amendment by banning various numbnuts from burning it.

I do, however, feel that the impacts of what is being proposed crosses the line into treason when preventing our flag from being flown (and you wonder why I refer to it as the People's Demokratik Republik?).

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

So, clearly we see an unequivocally stated right, reaffirmed for the individual to keep and bear arms by the Supreme Court of the United States.

Let's compare it to this case, Roe v. Wade, which determined by a 7-2 vote that "a right to privacy under the due process clause of the 14th Amendment extended to a woman's decision to have an abortion..." Okay, let's take a look at the Fourteenth Amendment:

AMENDMENT XIV

Passed by Congress June 13, 1866. Ratified July 9, 1868.

Note: Article I, section 2, of the Constitution was modified by section 2 of the 14th amendment.

Section 1.
All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Section 2.

But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

Section 4.
The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned. But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void.

Section 5.
The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.

Am I missing where it specifically and clearly guarantees and protects the right of an individual to choose and receive an abortion? Can we then ban them all because someone unjustifiably and illegally gets a late-term abortion?

How about drunk driving:

It's far time we limited the outdated right of millions of average Americans to own and drive automobiles because a handful might drive drunk and get in a fatal crash. Oh, my bad. It's a specifically defined right. Or is it?

Gun Appreciation Day Redux

I've already done my bit to promote and plan on taking part in Gun Appreciation Day.

It's a good start but I have my doubts about it's overall efficacy. Like some comments I've seen have indicated: yeah, we can stand around in happy solidarity and stare at the mostly empty shelves.

Maybe we better get used to that sight, huh?

Now, I see this from Sebastian over at Shall Not Be Questioned:

Facebook page here. This isn’t looking like the Million Mom March yet (which was really only a few hundred thousand and only succeeded because the Clinton machine got behind it), but it’s worth keeping an eye on. We can’t let them control the narrative.

The Facebook page indicates the march is planned for January 26th, and their banner reads:

When we stand together, we stand a chance

Oh, how wonderful for them!

Pardon me, here, but:

Why the f#ck are we continuing to cede this ground to them?

They march for everything and grab that limelight through a sympathetic press while we lurk around the darkened fringes like closet deviants at a Revivalist meeting.

I'm by no means advocating ignoring Buy A Gun Day. By all means, all of us should get our asses out on January 19th and be seen.

But, it is time to begin overwhelmingly beating the Antis at their own game. We need a larger show of solidarity than showing-up at our gun stores.

CSI: Oh, I Just Love This!

Not!

Well, just turned on the vidiot box to find that CSI: New York is taking on the ability to print fully-functioning .38 Spcl revolvers using 3-D printers and open-source software. It was just simply amazing how easy and quick it was to create a nice carry piece in a few moments.

The takeaway that I initially got was that "Guns are already dangerous enough, imagine what will happen with an unlicensed printer..."

Update: okay, not as smooth as I first thought as their test gun shattered on the 2nd round and looks to be giving that crucial evidence to link the killer to the crime.

This show isn't as bad as others but it does put the idea out to the very malleable masses who will fall in line on yet another control measure because it's on TV.

I will not register my weapons should this bill be passed, as I do not believe it is the government's right to know what I own. Nor do I think it prudent to tell you what I own so that it may be taken from me by a group of people who enjoy armed protection yet decry me having the same a crime. You ma'am have overstepped a line that is not your domain. I am a Marine Corps Veteran of 8 years, and I will not have some woman who proclaims the evil of an inanimate object, yet carries one, tell me I may not have one.

Chipping Away At The Foundation of Christmas

[Note: This is a revival of my earlier Chip... Chip... Chip... post, which met an untimely end as I was trying to pull an update.]

First-up, that which I was going to update with...
I've been working part-time for a local retailer, folks whom I've worked for on-and-off over the years since I've moved up to Alaska, during the Christmas rush. An elderly gentleman came in with who I assume was his granddaughter. They purchased an item as a present based on a recommendation that the would-be recipient had provided.

I was asked if I could wrap it and I replied that it would be no problem but I'd have to go to the back room to do so. They had no problem with that and mentioned they'd continue browsing around the store. I got it wrapped in record time and found the gentleman out in the aisles.

He thanked me and started to wish me, "Have a Merry-", when the granddaughter suddenly interjects, "Don't you dare say it!"

He kind of looks at her and says, "Huh?" To which, she replies, "I'm serious, don't you dare say it." He doesn't finish his statement to me and follows her out the store. I was stunned.

And, now, back to our earlier scheduled post...
Brace yourself, I’m going into "full-bore, I haven’t had enough caffeine to get my morning started" ranting and raving mode (or, maybe, I just need time back on the water to fish again). For the record, I’m not a practicing Christian. I've always thought of myself as something more akin to a Neo-Celto-Shamanic-Elementalist (with a skosh of Budhist thrown in). Despite non-Christian bent (and I said "non", not "anti"), I really don’t give a damn to wish anyone anything like hypothetical PC wish of “Happy Hana-Rama-Quansa-Mas”; or, even that bland, stale and generic "Happy Holidays" for that matter.

We’re celebrating a holiday season predicated on Christmas, a Christian holiday, and should pay it some respect. Instead, we find ourselves forced to respect everyone else's feelings except for the folks whose beliefs it celebrates. It's bad enough that we've lost much of its essence to rampant, self-centered mercantilism but, now, we've got to put-up with all sorts of proselytizers. And, I've got news for all the humanists out there hell-bent to prove how idiotic, wek-minded, and just plain old wrong the religious and spiritiual folks are: you're proselytizing just as hard as any callous-knuckled bible-thumper.

I'll give you a "Have a Happy Holiday" for something like Thanksgiving but I sure as hell am going to wish you a Merry Christmas and, Happy New Year, to boot.

Oh, yeah: feeling grand that taking away someone's Christmas tree is a righteous blow in the face of Christian tyranny? You're taking it away from its origins in far more ancient beliefs.

Okay, Tell Me Something I Didn't Already Know!

From a big old headline over at Drudge, which just ruined my lunch:

I know I may have jumped the Ghoul's Bandwagon early with these posts; however, we're really blind if we thought it might not happen and that we've already won the argument.

We're also idiots if we focus only on buying every AR, handgun, high-capacity mag, etc, that we can get our hands on before the next round of bans and/or registration probably goes into effect while expecting the NRA to step-up its efforts on our behalf and win the day.

Maintaining our 2nd Amendment rights won't be won by the admirable efforts of nebulous lobbying and sportmen's groups, folks, no matter how strong and effective they are. I'll continue to write, say, and even scream this until President Obama pounds the final nail in this coffin:

It'll be won by our standing-up, being seen, being heard, and openly demonstrating that we are a respectable and significant portion of the population that will not be ignored.

I've been trying to get a couple posts and email pleas out and so far all I'm getting back are the cricket-chirps of "Please Remove Me From This Mailing List."

Communities have gotta be actively maintained. Do Something! Pass along ideas and open the discussions.
